Cortijo El Terral is a beautifully restored home exchange with a good sized private pool situated in a secluded and peaceful location, surrounded by terrace gardens and borders full of exotic plants, cacti and fruit trees of 3.5 acres. We do however, take limited guests during the year for exchange but not during high season (July/August/September)..
The Cortijo has stunning, extensive, panoramic mountain views and looks towards the hilltop village of Comares which the Christians recaptured from the Moors. The little white washed village glistens in the sunshine and twinkles with lights at night. This small and unspoilt area of La Axarquia in Andalucia - to the north east of Malaga, is still an area untouched by tourism with undulating olive and almond groves. The high rugged mountains of the sierras are in the distance turning purple at dusk and the Mediterranean coast is to the south. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife.
The Cortijo is ideally suited to reach major cities for sightseeing, the coast and the whitewashed villages of La Axarquia in Andalucia.

Riogordo (Rio-river/gordo-full) is the nearest village only five minutes away by car past the olive groves. There are a selection of small shops and a supermarket which sells fresh bread everyday also a bakers, a pharmacy, butchers, fishmonger, a weekly market every Wednesday morning, general stores, a shop for stamps and two banks. The village is a typical Andalucian pueblo with white washed houses, winding streets and small lively tapas bars with the locals playing dominoes. A drive past the turquoise lake of Vinuela brings you to the town of Velez Malaga (20 minutes). Here there is a new shopping complex ‘El Ingenio’ which is open all day and evening. Other shops close at two, open again at five until eight pm. South of the town there is a water park Aquavelis (June-September). Horseriding, tennis, board sailing and mountain biking are all available locally near Periana. The weekly markets of the local towns are listed in the Cortijo. The coastal road between Torre del Mar and Nerja passes little villages and seaside restaurants called ‘chiringuitos’. Here you can eat freshly cooked sardines cooked over an open fire on the beach. The beaches are clean and mostly uncrowded. Some are long and wide, pebble or sand, others are small with rocks which are great for mask and snorkelling. There are naturist beaches, beaches to drive down windy tracks through tall trees and others in the Natural Park (Parque Natural). Fiesta means fun and party time! Every village holds at least one fiesta during the year. Fiestas include: carnivals, pilgrimages, processions, fairs, passion plays and degustacions. You will hear the sound of the Spanish guitar, intense singing and the wild flamenco dance expressing Andalucian folklore. The Malaga feria opens with a gigantic firework display and the feria runs for two weeks! The horse fairs include demonstrations and competitions of beautiful horses in La Axarquia region.

The king bedroom has a sink, bath and toilet. The Queen bedroom has a shower and twin basins and leads onto a top terrace outside. The bedroom with two singles is off the king bedroom and is ideal fo children. We take four guests plus baby/toddler.

The Cortijo is cleaned before and after your stay but we ask guests to leave the Cortijo in the condition they find it please.
A paid babysitter is available on request.
We can book various things for you. For example Flamenco or a good restaurant.
We provide logs and central heating but Aircon is paid by guests via card of 10e value per card.
Please note we live in one small part of the Cortijo when guests are staying but guests are fully private and secluded and have sole use of the pool and surrounding grounds. So if you need help or assistance we can be found,
