St. George Island is a barrier island located just off North Florida's Gulf coast. The island is connected to the mainland via a 5 mile long continuous span bridge at Eastpoint, FL. This area is well known for its excellent variety of Apalachicola Bay and Gulf of Mexico fish and seafood. The island is known for being quiet and tranquil.
Our 1st tier home exchange property, Palm Hammock, is a typical island house designed for relaxed beach living. All 4 bedrooms are on the first floor as well as 2 full bathrooms. The living room, kitchen, dining room and a full bath are on the 2nd or top floor which opens onto a wooden deck.
The white sand beach is accessible via a boardwalk located directly in front of the house. Wildlife is abundant - there is a large variety of sea birds including osprey, brown pelicans, gulls & terns. You are also likely to see the American Bald Eagle, they nest on the island. Sealife is also abundant. Dolphins are sighted daily and the island is a nesting site for sea turtles.
