This spacious and light-filled Docklands apartment with lift access is ideally located for travel being just a few minutes walk from the Jubilee Line tube station. Surrounded by water, it overlooks the houseboats moored at Poplar Dock yet a 3 minute stroll takes you to the busy shops and restaurants of Canary Wharf.
One of the apartment's main attractions is its large and well-proportioned sitting/dining room, one wall of which is entirely glass and contains sliding doors that open onto a large balcony with tables and seating for 6. The balcony looks across to Poplar Dock and the buildings of Canary Wharf as well as overlooking a walled communal garden. The sitting room is airy and furnished in a contemporary style with leather sofas and chairs and wooden flooring. There is a glass dining table with seating for 6 and a large wall mounted flat screen television. The apartment has a Sky viewing package as well as wi-fi.
Next to the sitting room is a separate fully equipped U shaped kitchen. It includes extra facilities such as a Nespresso coffee machine, microwave and 4 slot toaster.
The 3 double bedrooms are all spacious with water views and ample storage. The master bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom with bath with shower attachment. There is also a second bathroom with a power shower.
The Boardwalk Place site is staffed by a concierge and there is secure underground parking for one car per apartment. Parking permits can be also arranged on a daily basis for visitors' cars.
The apartment is perfectly situated for access to East and Central London being only a few minutes walk from the nearest Canary Wharf tube station entrance (though there are steps to negotiate). The site is literally opposite the O2 Arena at Greenwich which is just one 3 minute stop away on the Jubilee Line. Stratford, which is home to the Olympic site and Westfields shopping complex (the largest in Europe) is a 10 minute tube ride away, while the Jubilee Line will take you in the opposite direction into Central London and the West End in under 15 minutes.
There is also plenty to do and see within walking distance. The dockside location encourages wildlife, with plenty of ducks and geese to feed in particular and several features of the docks' working history have been conserved. This part of the river is full of London's maritime history - a ten minute walk will take you to The Gun, an ancient riverside pub with fantastic views of the O2 which was the secret meeting place for Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. A few minutes walk will also take you into Canary Wharf itself with its high rise buildings, gardens and central plaza. The underground Canary Wharf precinct is full of designer and high street outlets with plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from.

By air: City airport is close by being only a 5 minute taxi ride from the apartment or a couple of stops on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). if flying into Heathrow, the Heathrow Express will take you to the apartment via Paddington and the Jubilee Line in about 45 minutes. Access via rail from any of the large stations is a matter of getting onto the Jubilee Line and a short walk from Canary Wharf station (Montgomery Street exit). Access by car is very straightforward and there is onsite parking (guaranteed for one car).
The owner welcomed us to the apartment, coming out onto the street to guide us into the underground car park and our allotted space. She gave us a tour of the apartment, including important information about the little eccentricities of the microwave, fan oven, dripping tap in the bath (don’t let your toes drift into its path, it’s hot!) and, manna to my ears, invited us to ‘use up anything in the cupboards’. To someone more accustomed to renting holiday villas or apartments this was the main advantage of a house swap; it was just like being in your own house but better. We had all of the advantages of home; Wi-Fi, Satellite TV (although the signal was down for a lot of the time; presumably because of Storm Eva) and all the comforts of a fully stocked kitchen, together with all of the novelty of a holiday place; new restaurants to visit, good transport links to Central London and a view.

We spent a wonderful week in London in this lovely luxury, well-appointed and very clean apartment. Valery welcomed us at the Canary Wharf underground and introduced us to the apartment and surroundings. A bunch of fresh Barberton Daisies (an indigenous flower of South Africa), a fresh loaf of bread, butter, etc. let us feel at home at once. Thanks to Val's notes on where to eat and what to do in London, we immediately found our feet and made the best of our time. It was such a delight to return to the apartment at the end of each day.
