Lagniappe! (pronounced LAN-yap) a cajun expression meaning " a little something extra". Free events and entertainment on the island are one more reason to come visit. Fishing tournaments and marinas host free live bands, from classic rock to zydeco (Cajun music). Yes, they do dance here!

Activities: sunbathing, beach combing, crabbing and fishing. No boat, no problem! Fish from the beach, bay, bayou, or bridge. For deep sea fishing, charters can be arranged at the local marinas for a fee.

Food: Local restaurants serve hamburgers to seafood platters. Oysters on the half shell and a ice cold beer at Artie's Pub. There is a grocery store on the island that has food, fishing supplies, alcoholic beverages and souvenirs. If you want to have a crawfish boil or shrimp boil we have the boiling pot & burner to give you the real Cajun food experience. All you need is a sack of live crawfish from Golden Meadow (a town on the way down to the island). You can buy fresh shrimp, just off from the boat at the docks.

"We stayed at La Bon Vie over the Easter holiday and had a fabulous time. The camp was very clean and had all of the necessities. We were there with my brother and sister in-laws. We caught amberjack and grilled it up on the downstairs grill. yummmm. We will definitely stay here again!" Anonymous, Chicago, IL

"Gulf view from the balcony is great. We fished on Saturday and grilled some of our catch in the screened area. We had Cajun surf and turf that consisted of; grilled Black fin Tuna, Mai Mai, shrimp wrapped in bacon, and Cajun sausage..." Lee Boquet, Shreveport, La
