This wonderful old house was built in 1892 on Cumberland Island as three cottages. In 1923, it was floated down the Atlantic and reassembled in its present location as one cottage on St. Simons Island - back then it was called the Gramling Cottage, after the family that had it in the 1920's. By the time it was started to be restored, it was so overgrown, that many folks didn't even know there was a cottage on the property. It is blessed with a fabulous location - being able to see the water and yet being close to town, in the middle of everything - The house retains much of its historic charm - original hardwood flooring - great beadboard walls - even the original claw foot tub! It is furnished with many comfortable antiques and high quality upholstery - but it is designed to be a place to put your feet up and relax to the pace of life that is Saint Simons Island.
Beachview has 3 bedrooms, 4 baths, sleeps up to 9 people (6 in beds and 2 on sleeper sofa, 1 on pull out trundle), has around 1500 SF of living space (on a single level), with a 330 SF porch. Conveniently located in 'The Village', so you can walk to most everything

St. Simons Island has fantastic beaches that can stretch out for hundreds of yards at low tide. The high tide has ample beach for body surfing and our low tide expands the beach to couple of hundred yards wide. St. Simons Island is home to three golf clubs on the Island and 234 holes of golf in the immediate area. St. Simons Islands has many wonderful places for seafood, casual and fine dining, but our favorite fine dining restaurant on the island is Halyards. Go Fishing..You can get your rod and bait at St. Simons Bait and Tackle near the pier – a five minute ride from Atlantus – and drop line at the pier or you can charter a boat to go off shore fishing for Grouper, Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Redfish, Sea Bass, Whiting, Flounder, Tarpon, Shark and King Mackerel. Fort Frederica, St. Simons Lighthouse and Christ ChurchBuilt in 1736, 1807 (initially) and the 1700s, respectively, these island treasures provide an historical perspective of colonial and Civil War era Georgia. Spent a week here in the summer - this house is ideally located right near the water on St. Simons Island. It is a charming island with lots of things to do. We bike ride and were able to ride all over the island - the downtown is small but there are several charming restaurants and lots of shops to keep you busy. We also took a shrimp boat tour which we really enjoyed. The house has a unique history and is fairly large. The kitchen was well stocked and the parking was super easy. A really wonderful week !
