We had the most perfect holiday in Cedar villa with views to die for. Located slightly out of town but walkable meant that we had peace and quiet when we wanted it and the town for fantastic food and bar life if required.
The villa has 3 double bedrooms, 2 on the top leave and 1 on the lower ground. The villa is fully equipped with everything that you would require and maintained to a high standard with Mehmet coming in dayly to attend to your wishes!! plus look after the swimming pool and garden. He organised us a wonderful boat trip for the day, highly recommend this.
Shopping in the town of Kalkan is fantastic so suggast you take an empty case with you.
We all said that we would love to return to Cedar Villas and Kalkan.
Mrs Sally Wheeler (10 Nov 2014)
It was great to have had the opportunity of a good conversation with IVHE with first hand knowledge of the area, full of helpful advice about the town, the expected climate conditions for the time of year, etc.. This helped us greatly in deciding which of the IVHE villas to rent.
We were delighted with Cedar Villa, and with the suggestion about transfers etc. from the owner and his website. Transfers were easy - the agent for the house was not there when we arrived, but we did not have long to wait. He, Mohammed, was generally helpful and most pleasant, but small details like how to turn on the oven were not so easily solved.
The house lived up to its description on the website, and in fact exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms excellent. The kitchen was more than adequate, and the outside sitting areas were delightful. The situation of the house was extremely good - we looked at many other properties when we were there and found that most had at least some obstruction to the view - usually other peoples' water tanks - while both aspects from Cedar Villa, towards Kalkan and west into the bay and sunset, were both private and spectacular.
The pool was fairly large and very deep - we knew that it early October is would be cold, and it was!
Sadly one of the beach areas looked derelict, as if it had not been in use all year, but one could sit on the beach and look outwards with enjoyment. The second beach area, from which we had been told we could get a boat into Kalkan, had decided to no longer offer this facilities to non residents. So we had to take taxis in and out of Kalkan: this did not matter but should perhaps be removed from the website in the future.
We were there during one of the dramatic weeks of the credit crunch. We could not get the TV to work, nor could Mohammed and we were forced to call the owner, as suggested by him in the villa book, at a number in England. We finally traced him to Tobago where he was painting his house - but he did not know the answer! The second TV which was a games console, was also not working.
We could thoroughly recommend Kalkan - the town was most attractive, and not at all crowded in the early part of October. There was plenty to see, and many interesting excursions. My favourite, and apparently one not taken up by many visitors, was a walk around some villages well inland, where the people were incredibly friendly and hospitable - we were give fruit, bread and wine as we walked along, with no sense that such visits were a regular occurence. In fact the friendliness of all the Turkish people we met was one of the high spots of the holiday.
To sum up, we greatly enjoyed our holiday, both for Kalkan itself, and Cedar Villa. We would recommend the villa to any other IVHE member, and would certainly go back there again - however there are so many other interesting places to swap!
