Property #0507: France, Haute Savoie - Mountain chalet with exquisite views
Chalet in the beautiful French alpine village of Samoens

5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 10
19 - 47 credits

Situated looking towards the slopes of Samoens and Morillon and the extensive area of the Grand Massif, the chalet is in an enviable position to take advantage of the outstanding scenery.  We are a 5 minute drive to a variety of cable cars and boast a view to die for as you relax in the hot tub on our south facing terrace.

The larger of the 2 chalets is semi detached and forms the other half of our own.  It is south facing and from all the principle rooms you can take advantage of the magnificent and panoramic view.  It consists of  5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms laid out over 3 floors.  On the upper floor is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom, an alpine built in double bedroom and a twin bedroom.  On the floor below, the entrance level, is a large sitting/dining room with open fireplace, kitchen and bathroom with separate shower.  The entrance boasts a large heated cupboard for  drying and warming boots and coats.  The lower level provides a further sitting room with another 2 double or twin rooms and a bathroom.  Both sitting rooms have TV with sky and DVD and there is a playstation in the lower sitting room.  The terrace leads directly from this sitting room and houses the hot tub.

Here you can relax after a hard days skiing and soak in the view – drink in hand.

We offer a Sunday changeover day for the chalets, giving you all the benefits of quieter slopes on the Saturday and cheaper flights on the Sunday.  We love having children too and will cater for their specific needs, and babysitting services.

The Grand Massif ski area comprises five interlinked villages of Samoens, Morillon, Les Carroz, Sixt and Flaine.  There is over 265km of piste varying from the most stunningly beautiful green, tree lined ‘Marvel’ run in Morillon to the equally beautiful and dramatic 14km blue ‘Cascade’ which runs from the top of Flaine at 2600m to the bottom of Sixt.  You can take the option of stopping half way down for lunch and calling the snowmobile to come and give you a tow the short distance up to the restaurant – an experience you don’t want to miss!  There are a heap of challenging blacks, including the not to be missed ‘Styx’ at Flaine.  If you are looking for an ‘off piste’ experience, then this is amongst the most diverse and beautiful and because Samoens is still trying to keep its popularity quiet, you will not find it skied out too quickly.  Interesting and challenging powder awaits through the trees at every opportunity.

In all there are 75 lifts, interconnecting the 53 blue runs, 51 red runs and 14 black runs.  It is a good snowsure area with the Grand Massif holding the record for one of the top areas in the French Alps for maintaining good snow conditions, due to its close proximity to Mont Blanc and its many north facing slopes. 128 snow canons supplement as necessary to ensure the area stays open from Christmas to the middle of April.

For boarders, there is the additional appeal of the 3 tailor made jamparks,  the biggest of which is located in Flaine with half pipes, boardercross, big air jumps, table rails and quarters.  It has a chalet reception area, sound system and cool zone.  Free sessions are organised with BBQ’s DJ’s, snow parties and more.

For cross country skiiers there is a separate domain on the south side of the valley as well as at Flaine, giving you over 90kms of marked trails to explore and taking you to some of the mountain restaurants of Les Gets which is just around the corner.

There are also over 60kmm of marked tracks for snow shoeing through the peaceful forests and taking in a different aspect of the mountains.

Mountain restaurants abound serving traditional savoyarde food.  Alternatively, why not take a picnic up with you to enjoy simply the best positions on the mountains.  You could sit at the top of the Grand Platier in Flaine and gaze at Mt Blanc, bask in the sunshine and live the dream!

Apres skiing is relaxed and friendly and Samoens provides a good selection of traditional bars and restaurants.
If you want to do a little more than ‘just’ ski, or if skiing is not your thing and you want something a little different then why not try a parascend tandem jump and float down over the slopes instead – a magical experience.  Alternatively you could try your hand at dog sledding, ice climbing, an evening snowmobile safari or explore the village on a guided heritage tour or just wander, where you will find a host of interesting shops, cafes and bars, an ice skating rink, famous alpine gardens and a superb weekly market.

Alternatively, you could find a hidden clearing a little off the piste where it is so quiet you can imagine that there is nobody else in the world, until your peace is interrupted by the quiet pacing of a passing Chamois. We would love to provide you with something  delicious on request, so that you can enjoy this quite unique experience.

The following are on offer at an additional cost:

Full or partial catering, baby sitting can be arranged on request and organised adventure weekends for individual groups on a tailor made basis.
