Skiing and Snowboarding : Chamonix is one of the worlds most famous ski resorts and it is the Athens of winter sports as it hosted the first winter Olympics. While it is known as the extreme ski capital of the world there are plenty of gentle slopes for beginners in close walking distance from the town centre. One of the biggest reasons Chamonix is such a big attraction is because of the options available to people. If the day is nice and sunny then you can go to the likes of 'Brevant' which is not over challenging and is facing south so that you can get plenty sun. Also if you are serious about your skiing, then 'Grand Montets' is the most suitable for you for many reasons. One of these is the fact that it is facng north and is higher than most slopes at 3295 meters has a very long season and has excellent skiing until the end of the season which is the second week of May. Also if you are into off piste skiing Grand Montets has more options than any resort in the world.

The rest of the year: Unlike most ski resorts in the world, Chamonix has more people in town in the summer than in the winter. People come to climb mountains especially 'Mont Blanc' which is the highest mountain in western Europe. Lots of mountain climbers come here to train to climb higher mountain around the world like 'Everest' because there is no charge to climb here. There are hundreds of walks all around this beautiful valley which has mountains rising 1500meters above the town at one side and 3800 meters on the other side. But one of the biggest growing sports in Chamonix at the moment is mountain biking as they are now creating specific mountain bike tracks and by next year will have bike track in every ski area in Chamonix. If you still haven't enough to keep you busy, there is Paragliding,White Water Rafting, Canyoning and Absailing. But if you are looking for something a little less extreme then there's an designer 18hole golf course, Tennis courts and a full indoor sports centre.

Golf: The Golf course is a challenging 18 hole designed by Trent Jones Sr with lots of mature trees and is open from around the middle of April until the end of October. The fees are 45 euros from opening until the 30th of June during the week and 55 euros for the weekend. For the month of July and for the first half of September the price is 65 euros. In August the price goes up to 75 euros per game. from mid September the price is the same as the opening price of 45 and 55 euros. There is also a driving range to do some fine tuning.
