Vacation home exchange in USA Alaska - Fairbanks

Our home is a modern house on 1.6 acres of birch forest, three miles north of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It has three bedrooms, three baths, and a large study in addition to living room and kitchen/dining area, plus a deck. We use one of the bedrooms as a sewing room, so the house sleeps four: one room with a queen bed, another with a double sofa bed. The living room upstairs looks out onto the woods where wild roses bloom and mother moose stroll by with their calves or bed down for a rest, as in the summer months the sky never gets fully dark. Our neighbors' house are barely in view, and an extensive system of walking trails beckons along the edge of our lot.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough has about 90,000 people and is situated in the interior of Alaska, 360 miles north of Anchorage. Our weather is not coastal weather: we get colder in the winter and warmer in the summer. The University of Alaska Fairbanks is the major institution in the state and provides many cultural and educational opportunities for visitors as well as residents.

Fairbanks International Airport has year round service with Alaska Airlines and seasonal service with Delta, Northwest, and Condor Air (flights across the pole from Frankfurt, Germany). The airport is about 5 miles from our house. The Alaska Railroad also serves Fairbanks, with trains coming from the coastal cities of Seward and Anchorage, with stops at Denali National Park.

Car necessary: yes.
